This website has been created for use with Year 3 or 4 children in order to meet the following learning objectives taken from the National Literacy Strategy:

T4.23 - To investigate how reading strategies are adopted to suit the different properties of I.T texts, including IT based sources.
T4.16 – To identify different types of text, e.g. their content/structure/vocabulary/style/layout/purpose
T4.17 – To identify features of non fiction texts in print and in IT e.g. headings/lists/bullet points/captions, which support the reading in gaining information efficiently.
T3.20 – To read information passages and identify key points or gist of text e.g. by noting or underlining key words or phrases, listing 4 or 5 key points covered.

S3.5 - To use the term verb appropriately.
S3.13 – To use commas to separate items in a list.
S3.9 – To notice and investigate a range of other devices for presenting texts e.g. Speech bubbles, enlarged or italicised print, captions and headings, inset text. Explore purposes and collect examples.
